Grand Rapids Martial Arts

Get Fit. Be Strong. Feel Empowered.

The 5 Unexpected, Life-Altering
Effects of Martial Arts.

Welcome to the family!

Our Grand Rapids American Karate/Kickboxing school might just seem like a place to get fit and learn self-defense... but to us it’s so much more. When you train with us you’ll experience a place where you fit in, no matter what your background or fitness experience is.

You’ll get into phenomenal shape, learn exciting self-defense skills, and experience personal growth that has improved the lives of each of our students. The physical transformation you’ll enjoy is fantastic, but the mindset and attitude you’ll develop is what’s truly amazing.

We’ll help you get next level fit, but below are a few of the more subtle changes our students experience in our classes as well.

#1 Boosted Confidence

Challenge yourself, change your life! As you dig in and put your efforts into learning all of the crazy cool striking drills, self-defense techniques, and showing up for cardio training you’ll realize you CAN smash your fitness goals.

Wow, what a big boost in confidence this brings! We see it on all of the new students' faces within just a couple weeks. Believe it or not, a lot of it comes from the positive class atmosphere and socialization.

You’ll swell with pride as your classmates and instructors cheer you on. High fives will fly high as you progress through training and continue to give your all in class. Both kids and adults feel this and it spills over into their everyday life. Kids step up to the plate, becoming leaders in their classrooms. And adults claim they take on challenges at work with more confidence too!

#2 Increased Ability to Focus

Martial Arts is so much fun! You’ll learn all sorts of new skills and techniques like striking drills, defensive moves, and even super secret functional cardio drills. But... when you learn a new skill, you have to concentrate hard on listening to the instructor, then perform what they taught you.

The neat thing is this intense concentration naturally pours into all other areas of your life as you develop laser like focus. It’s one of the most amazing side effects of martial arts — many call it getting in the zone, unlocking your untapped potential, or peak performance.

Whatever you want to call it, one thing is for certain — you’ll learn how to focus your mind to perform tasks you once thought impossible.

#3 Improved Physical Fitness

No matter what your starting level is, you’ll start to see improvements in as little as two weeks and will continue to get stronger, more flexible, and leaned out than you ever thought possible.

Each class is loaded with challenging and fun exercises meant to enhance your martial arts training. You’ll practice dynamic striking drills, enhance your cardio like top martial artists do, and have an absolute blast with your classmates.

Before you know it, the class is over, and you got a phenomenal workout while learning powerful, life-saving skills.

#4 Community

We're a tight-knit group here. And our members and instructors are all about support and friendship. Kids and adults both make friends with the other members, and as a result, our community thrives.

We provide the kind of environment that fosters friendship, encouragement, and motivation. It's truly great to experience.

#5 My Personal Favorite: FUN!

These classes are NOT military-style where someone shouts at you and forces you to do a bunch of things you hate! No, these classes are filled with FUN. Laughter can be heard throughout every class, people can be seen smiling, and the time flies.

We want you to enjoy coming here, so we make it as fun and engaging as possible for you. That goes for both kids and adults.

We mix a perfect blend of fun activities and games in all our Grand Rapids kids martial art classes to keep kids' attention. But at the same time, we go beyond the traditional martial arts techniques to impart discipline and a deeper sense of respect to our students. As a result, kids become better-behaved everywhere they go and perform better in school. That's why parents are crazy about our classes too, not just their kids.

Kids of all ages love these martial art classes...they enjoy the fun activities and games while improving and learning new martial art techniques.

Our Grand Rapids Krav Maga classes are developed from the mid-1930s Jewish / Israeli history. In those years, anti-Semitic thugs dominated Bratislava and terrorized Jewish citizens. But a man named Imi Sde-Or, also Jewish, became their champion by defending them on the streets.

Imi Sde-Or, in his many street fights, realized that boxing and wrestling had no place in the "real world". He was an Olympic contender in both, so no one knew boxing and wrestling better than he did. He took his experience on the street, combined it with what he already knew, and developed Krav Maga; a unique type of self-defense that utilizes natural instincts for self-protection. Get fit and develop self-defense by joining our Grand Rapids Krav Maga classes.
